I got a perm yesterday and i really hate how it looks. i made a big mistake by not inquiring first. i don;t think i can adjust to the way it looks, i'd really like to change it. can i have it relaxed/rebonded just as soon or maybe get a digital perm to fix the curls. my fear is that it might be bad my hair to have it treated again but i'd really like to change it. i don't want to have the curls cut off because my hair would be chin length then. i need help..

Did they tell you not to wash your hair for awhile? When I've had perms,they said not to wash it for 3 days. If that's the case, wash it. It should make the curls relax at least a little bit. And wait a little while until you get it relaxed.

If you relax your hair after perming it it will break off. Two chemical processes one right after the other is very damaging to the hair. You could try talking to your hairstylist about a "corrective" relaxer so that it can straighten out a little bit.

Or, you can flat iron it using a Maxiglide ceramic flat iron and a heat protectant spray like IC heat protectant spray in the meanwhile until your hair gets long enough then you could cut of the permed ends gradually.

wash it RIGHT now, with lots of hot water and your normal shampoo. do it a couple of times, it MIGHT help

Go back to the salon imediately... Tell them You are not happy with it. Explain why it's not working for you. Explain again as to what you envisioned. They might be able to help. I'm a hairstylist ... I know for sure if I gave someone a perm they didn't like Iwould want them to tell me the truth. Your hairstylist should understand where your coming from %26amp; know what to do to fix it. If your stylist won't help management of the salon will. If you don't want them to touch your hair again ask for your money back. They'll give it to you.

What the heck is a digital perm? You have to wait at least a couple of months or your hair will become weak and break off in big chunks.

To get the curls to relax, use a straightening shampoo and combyour hair straight down after you shower - don't scrunch it. The curls will relax a LOT in the first couple of weeks. You may end up liking it!

Also, you can use really large hot rollers or a very large curling iron to turn the curls into larger waves. Get one at least 1" around.

hi may, out of curiousity, ur hair stylist didnt advise u on his/her own accord wat kinda curls would suit u best? Js curious. But like the others, pls dun straighten/rebond it. Tolerate the curls for a while, put it up in a ponytail %26amp; wait for the hair to grow longer before snipping the curls off.

A new perm will not stay in your hair if you wash it and then use a RINSE. The rinse pulls the curl out of it and keeps it soft. That is why your hair dresser tells you not to wash or rinse your hair for at least 3 days. My daughter got a perm once and put rinse in it too early and all the curl came out. If you try to put other chemicals in your hair right now, you stand a chance of loosing all your hair. Just use a rinse and it will look a lot better and be in better condition. God bless

Wash your hair with Pert Plus or Prell. Its really bad for your hair normally but it strips the perm out. You could also use a clarifying shampoo also called stripping or chelating. Be sure to deep condition it afterwards. Maybe the salon you got it permed at would do a deep condition for free. If you do it yourself put a bag on your head and put your blow dryder on it to open the cuticle. Then wrap a towel on your head and leave it for 20 min
