Lemon juice in hair for lighter hair... question!?

My sister did this to me when I was 11 or something, she put lemon juice in my hair (straight from the lemon) and put it through my hair, she put a fair amount. She made me sit outside for 20 mins or something and I noticed a big difference, my hair got lighter.

Will this work now too? I don't want to ruin my hair... but since it's natural it can't be all that bad , can it? I just don't want to dye my hair since I like the tone and it's a very nice colour but I just want to lighten it a bit, make it look beachy and summery, as my hair usually gets lighter byt his time of year but because I'm in a new place this year it hasn't gotten lighter yet.

Good idea?

This will still work on your hair, and I don't think that it will damage your hair in any way either. Lemon juice is a natural cleanser for hair because it strips your hair of the impurities on the outside and lightens it up quite a bit. The exposure to the sun just speeds up the process of making your hair lighter.

Doing this may make your hair feel dry afterward, so be sure to use a good conditioner after the lemon juice treatment.

hair doesn't change color depending on the season...lemon juice is just an astringent that has a ph of 2.5 or so it can close a cuticle so as a rinse it works...truthfully it wasn't the lemon that lightened ur hair it was the sun

well what color is your hair? Im brunette and did this and my hair turned so red it looked orange. It also got very dry. Had to cut it. I would try alittle and only for a like 15-20 mins outside.

I did it too when I was younger with my friend,

Both are hair turned light blond and She was brunette and It turned her hair blond..

But when We told her grandma that's what we did she was telling us that the lemon juice is really strong and acidic and can really dry and fry your hair...

You Might also want to consider "Sun in" Or " A touch of Sun"

Both are lightening sprays you can buy at walgreens or wherever..
